Handyman

Dave has been using nearly every weekend to fix up the house.  He sealed the gap under the garage door to keep out the piercing wind.   He installed a thick layer of insulation under the floor, and repaired the vents.  He installed ceiling lights in all the bedrooms so we could get rid of the dark, dingy lamps.  He reinforced the tub supports after noticing that a heavy tub full of water was breaking the seal and causing leaks.

Even during our visit to my parent’s house, Dave was Mr. Fix-It.  He helped to build a greenhouse for my mom’s winter garden.  He went with my Dad to load up fencing material and young trees that they bought off Craigslist.  He fixed the lock on the bathroom door, and installed a new water filtration system under the kitchen sink.  My mom worried that Dave would think they were working him too much during his time off, but he enjoyed it, saying he prefers having something to tinker with as opposed to “sitting around doing nothing”.

Now back home, Dave wants to install recessed lighting in our living room to make it brighter during the dark winter months.  Then he can blow more insulation into our attic to cut down our heating costs, and get our energy rebate.  After that, he wants to tackle the insulation in the outer walls of the back bedrooms, and then start fixing up the kitchen.  It’s a never-ending process!
