New Glasses

I’ve been suffering constant headaches for the past several weeks, so I finally decided to get my eyes checked again, and sure enough, I need a stronger prescription.  I never wore glasses until Eva was born, so I guess Amanda took her toll, too.  LOL!  I’ve been told that I have mild astigmatism and will eventually need bifocals, but they’re putting that off as long as possible (thank God!).  In the meantime, I’m waiting for my new glasses to arrive.

The office where Dave and I go is only a few blocks away, and they also have a Pediatric Ophthalmologist who specializes in Strabismus, so I decided to switch Eva over to him instead of driving all the way into downtown Portland.  He comes highly recommended and doesn’t have a two-month waiting list, so those are benefits, too.  Eva has to have her eyes checked every six months to make sure her prescription keeps up with her development, and her condition doesn’t worsen.  Our insurance considers Strabismus to be a pre-existing condition and applies it towards our deductible, so we have to pay full in cash every time.  It’s a real bummer, but there’s not much we can do about it.  At least it appears that her glasses are enough, and surgery shouldn’t be necessary.  She’s worn the same rubber frames since she was 6 months old, so we’ll probably have to get new ones for her soon, too.
