Flying Out

David’s mom, Grandma Geri, isn’t doing well right now.  She’s been in and out of the hospital for the past couple weeks, and though she’s back home in assisted living, she’s not bouncing back like she has in the past.  Recently she asked her doctor for oxygen at home, in the hopes that it would make her feel better (not a good sign, since she’s adamantly refused it in the past).  She says it helps her sleep better, but she’s still pretty weak.  David has decided it’s time to fly home to visit her, and I totally agree, so he’ll be going next week, and taking Eva with him.  I know she’ll be thrilled to see both of them, though she’ll definitely miss seeing Amanda.

I wish I could go with him, but I’m already booked to fly to my friend Kate’s wedding in Wisconsin, and Amanda’s going with me (she’s still nursing).  Kate was a bridesmaid at my wedding, and the last one to get married from our circle of friends.  I’ve been looking forward to this trip for months, getting reunited with old friends I haven’t seen in years, and just having some girl time.  We already have tickets to fly as family to San Diego in August, so Geri will get to see me and Amanda then. Ironically, the reason we delayed that trip was so we could attend another friend’s wedding: Dave’s buddy Johnny, who was a groomsman at our wedding (so it appears we’re marrying off the last two single attendants from our wedding this summer, haha!).

  1. I'm sorry to hear about David's mom. Your family will be in my prayers.

I hope you have a great time on YOUR trip. It sounds so exciting! Take plenty of photos and let us know how things go!

I'll also be praying for your safe flights as well. :)
