Right now it's very difficult to get any time alone, much less as a couple. Even in the evenings after Eva is asleep, Amanda is wide awake. Sometimes she'll fall asleep nursing, but wake up the minute I lay her down. It's frustrating because I've held her up to a 1/2 hour in my arms to make sure she was really asleep before trying to set her down, but then she'd wake up totally refreshed from her nap and ready to play. By the time Amanda finally goes down for good around 11pm, both of us are ready to sleep as well. I don't really know anyone well enough to leave my kids with them (or more importantly, Eva isn't familiar enough with anyone yet), but I'm hoping I can start trading babysitting with a couple of the mommies from small group as soon as Amanda starts eating solid food. Our church provides child care for a weekly "Date Night" for couples, so maybe we'll try that sometime. Eva's pretty familiar with the 2-year-old's room and its staff, and is usually happy in there.

This is probably one of the hardest parts of having young children in my opinion. Tom and I MAY get 10 minutes ALONE a day. *sigh* It's rough and really CAN get lonely. I MISS adult conversation!!! *lol*
ReplyDeleteI'm like you...I don't know anyone well enough to trust them with my kids so I just have to be patient.
