12/1/07 - Housebound

Everyone's been sick all week, so we've been cooped up at home with the exception of a couple trips to the grocery store. I was hoping to use this time to do some potty training, but Eva is adamantly opposed.  She insists the potty is "yucky" and won't go near it.  I've tried using rewards like stickers and M&Ms to show her it's a positive thing, to no avail. The last thing I want is for her to associate going potty with anything negative.  It'll only make it more difficult, so I try to back off and be patient.

Meanwhile, I can tell Eva's starting to get stir crazy staying in the apartment, because she'll fill her purse with toys, put it over her shoulder and announce "OK, mommy, bye-bye!"  She keeps talking about "airplane" and everyone we visited, and asks "go waterfall?"  I don't blame her for wanting to get out, even though it's freezing outside.  I'm starting to get restless myself.

Today we're going house hunting with our realtor again, if the weather cooperates.  Yesterday afternoon we got snow mixed with rain for about an hour, but it melted as soon as it hit the ground.  Tomorrow we're supposed to get more snow, and it's expected to stick.  We'll see.  I'm doing almost all my Christmas shopping online this year because the mall is 20 minutes and two freeways away, and I don't want to risk it when it's icy.
