11/20/07 - San Diego Visit

We went down to San Diego this weekend to see friends and family before the holiday travel rush.  It was weird to be back, but not be able to just drive home to our place.  We stayed with our friends X and Amber, and Eva was so excited to see them again (and thrilled to meet their new hamster).  Aunt Nanci hosted a wonderful early Thanksgiving dinner for all of Dave's family.  Eva loved playing with the dogs and ordering them around.  It's a good thing they're so patient with toddlers!   I also got to visit with my friends Laurelle and Jennifer, and Johnny drove down to see us.  Dave was able to squeeze in a surfing session, too, and was reveling in the chance to wear shorts and sandals.  It was a little strange to be back in warm weather with dusty-green foliage, after living for two months with chilly weather and vibrant fall leaves.   All-in-all I'd say it was a perfect weekend.  We got to visit almost everyone and everything we hoped to while we were there, and everyone got a chance to spend time with their favorite little girls. Eva went home laden with new toys from her loving aunties, including a new plush horse (that she tries to ride) and a “Dora the Explorer” doll that’s almost as big as she is.  :)

AIRPLANE!

Eva loves airplanes, and she sure got her fill on this trip.  I flew down with the girls by myself on Thursday, and Dave followed the next day. It was an uneventful flight, apart from Amanda needing a new outfit because her diaper overflowed, and Eva spilling dry cereal into the aisle for people to pulverize into the carpet - all before we took off!  The hardest part is going through security.  They make you break down the stroller, remove everyone's shoes and take the baby out of the car seat so they can all go through the X-ray machine.   Thankfully I had the sling, and a compassionate gentleman helped me through because he said, "I'd like to know someone helped my wife if she was in the same situation."  The flight back was much easier because Dave was with me.
