The prognosis on Eva's eyes is not good. At her ophthalmology appointment this week, they decided to have me patch one eye for an hour each day, in the hopes that it will make the other stronger. She's about 90% improved, but she still crosses her eyes to examine something up close (like a toy she's holding). It happens even with her glasses on, usually when she's tired. Eva hates the patch and keeps trying to pull it off. It’s like a giant band-aid and sometimes leaves a mark on her face if she rips it off too quickly. Someone suggested putting it over one of her lenses in her glasses, but that won’t work. She’d just take the glasses off. The doctor says surgery isn't inevitable, but at this point it's a strong possibility. If it becomes necessary, they'll want to do it before her first birthday, which is only 3 months away. I'm supposed to take her back in three weeks so they can assess the results of the patching. We’re praying that her eyes will grow stronger and that the surgery won't be necessary.
